Bumpkin has arrived

Who would have thought that the little country bumpkin from a teeny little village in Dorset would force herself to move to the city (while doing her masters in publishing in surrey, bit of a cop out). This is my first full month living in East London and it would be safe to say the cry to run home to the hills (literally) is gnawing away at me a little. The words adjust, get used to, find your feet have been popular BUT I am determined to fall in love with all of the East even high rise blocks and pigeons.

Let's bring you up to date a little

I have temporarily moved into where my boyfriend is living which is all grand apart from "the french connection" would rather you hadn't. Bumpkin feels like she is a home-wrecker and mopes about quiet in her room to avoid being a pest. We are now looking around to move away which has been an eye opener, some streets you avoid like the plague! We saw a lovely posh warehouse conversion which we completely lost out due to my attire, Note to self: Don't wear batgirl tshirts it scares away the professionals. Outside this potential humble abode was a raving older man gibbering away seemingly harmless. Then he, as if suffering from a manic nervous twitch, pelted full speed towards the nearest tree wrapped his legs around the trunk and started gyrating!

I have had glimmers of hope it's not all doom and gloom! There is a charming pub "The Marksmen" near Broadway market absolutely stunning food, played mgmt and had the most awesome aussie waiter. Also point in fact that broadway market is a pretty cool place to grab some lunch and was thanked by the crepe extradionares for actually paying for it. The Breakfast club in Hoxton Sq also gets 5star for chilled out atmosphere, cheap prices and great food! Check out the wallpaper in their toilets the child in me had to slap my goofy smile off my face it was that awesome!

I had an interview for a video shop which was held in a busy, noisy bar....yep that was weird. I didnt get the job. Maybe it was because I called it a video store and not a film library or maybe it was because I walked into the glass door on the way out?

It's a bit of a slow process, having this blog will really help me to remember, cherish and of course vent on a near daily basis. One thing I have learned is beware of the misleading beggar. He tells you he fell off his bike and needs money to get a bus to the hospital while showing you a massive bleeding gash in his arm. He caught me once and I emptied my heart and my purse out to him. (I say purse I mean my pockets in the eskimo coat i've owned since I was 18) The guy is as I've learnt a local legend/annoyance and paints the cut on himself. Absolute points for effort but I shan't be duped again!

Here's to a new life away from the country..........

Ahoy!
